“The Rights of the Child,” an educational video produced by Discovery Learning Alliance, was honored with a Silver World Medal and the UNDPI-Bronze Award at this year’s New York Festivals International TV & Film Awards.

“The Rights of the Child,” part of Discovery Learning Alliance’s library of educational videos, teaches the history of children’s rights and the specific rights that every child should have based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

New York Festivals International TV & Film Awards has celebrated the World's Best TV & Films since 1957 and honors programming in all lengths and forms from more than 50 countries.

The United Nations Awards were established in 1990 by New York Festivals in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Public Information to honor the world’s best public service programming that best exemplifies the aims and ideals of the United Nations.

In 2016, Discovery Communications won the UNDPI-Bronze Award for the documentary Racing Extinction, produced by Fisher Stevens.
