Launched by Discovery Communications in 1997, Impact(Ed) International has opened new doors to education in 16 countries, reaching millions through schools and millions more through broadcast television and mass media initiatives in the developing world.
They’re on the front lines of learning – the principals, teachers, parents and community members that make learning come to life by organizing afterschool clubs, leading dynamic classroom lessons, hostimg movie screenings, and so much more. Here are a few of the awesome educators making a difference around the world.
“Being a science educator with not enough resources – such as laboratories where learners can see or make experiments – is not easy, but the DVDs came as a solution.”
“I’ve worked for nine years in municipal schools. I’ve also taught theater and produced children’s plays. I have used videos in class on a weekly basis.”
“I used to think that a good teacher is one who stands in the front of the class and delivers information in a serious tone. I used to teach without smiling. It’s opposite now … things are better.”
We’re looking at the big picture – long term, sustainable education interventions that can change lives and entire communities – and we have worked with a group of amazing partners and supporters to make it possible. Our partners, past and present, have included Discovery Inc., Chevron, Shell, Coca Cola Foundation, Standard Chartered Bank, Cell-Ed, Avanti Communications, USAID, and the UK Department for International Development (DFID), among others.
